Scavenger Version 3 - how to recover data from hard drive

File Scavenger® Version 3 is a file "undelete" and data recovery utility for Windows XP®, Windows Server 2003®, Windows 2000® or Windows NT®. File Scavenger® can recover files that have been accidentally deleted (including files removed from the Recycle Bin, in a DOS window, from a network drive, from Windows Explorer with the SHIFT key held down) provided that recovery is attempted before the files are permanently overwritten by new data. File Scavenger® supports both basic and dynamic disks, NTFS compression, alternate data streams, sparse files, Unicode filenames, etc. Except in severe cases, both the file and the folder path leading to the file can be recovered. English, German and Japanese versions are available.

How to setup File Scavenger 3.1
1. Welcome to the File Scavenger 3.1 Setup Wizard
This will install File Scavenger 3.1 on your computer. It is recommended that you close all other applications before continuing. Click Next to continue, or cancel to exit Setup.
2. License Agreement
Please read the following License Agreement. You must accept the terms of this agreement before continuing with installation.
3. Information
Please read the following important information before continuing. When you are ready to continue with Setup, click Next.
4. Setup – File Scavenger 3.1 (Select Destination Location)
Where should File Scavenger 3.1 be installed?
Setup will install File Scavenger 3.1 into following folder. To continue, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, Click Browse. At least 1.3 MB of free disk is required.

5. Setup – File Scavenger 3.1 (Select Start Menu Folder)
Where should Setup place the program’s shortcuts ?
Setup will create in the place the program’s shortcuts in following Start Menu folder. To continue, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
6. Setup – File Scavenger 3.1 (Ready to Install)
Setup is now ready to begin installing file Scavenger 3.1 on your computer.
Click Install to continue with the installation, or click Back if you want to review or change any settings.
7. Completing the File Scavenger 3.1 Setup Wizard
Setup has finished installing File Scavenger 3.1 on your computer. The application may be launched by selecting the installed icons. Cilck Finish to exit Setup.


How to use File Scavenger 3.1 to recover your data.
I format my flash drive to test to recover data form formatted flash drive case.

Click Start --> All Programs -->File Scavenger 3.1


1. Choose a drive from the Look in drop-down menu. In Search Mode, if you recover deleted files select Quick, if you recover formatted files select Long. --> click Search.
2. The File Scavenger 3.1 is scanning for files.
3. Click Recover button to recover selected files and folders.
4. The File Scavenger 3.1 is recovering for files and folders.

This is files and folders that the File Scavenger can recovered, it small less than scanned files because the File scavenger in this case is Demo version.
